Uber has taken over the streets of many towns around the world, and now it is looking up towards the sky.

The taxi app is teaming up with Airbus to develop a flight on-demand service which will see users travel via helicopter.

Speaking to the Wall Street Journal, Airbus CEO Tom Enders said:

Its a pilot project, we’ll see where it goes—but it’s pretty exciting.

It won’t be the first time Uber have taken to the skies.

The app first tested a service known as UberChopper back in 2013, with flights taking place in New York between Manhattan and the Hamptons.

It has also offered one-off flights for high-profile events such as the Cannes Film Festival, and the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas.

Uber Chopper services have cost $400 per person (roughly £280), so it isn’t exactly a steal.

Hopefully they vet pilots a bit better than they have reportedly done so for their drivers though.
