GettyTV presenter Anthony McPartlin has checked into rehab after admitting he has drink and drug problems to his wife and co-star Declan Donnelly.
The I’m A Celeb and BGT presenter confessed to close friends and family that he was facing a crisis with prescription drugs and alcohol, The Mirror reports.
The 41-year-old cried as he revealed his on-going problems to his wife Lisa Armstrong and showbiz partner Dec.
“The first step is to admit to yourself you need help. I’ve let people down. I’m truly sorry,” he said last night.
GettySpeaking to The Sun, he added:
I have spoken out because I think it is important that people ask for help if they are going through a rough time and get the proper treatment to help their recovery.
He will now spend at least two months in a clinic to try and confront and overcome his addictions.
It’s been reported that Ant suffers from chronic pain caused by a problem with his right knee, which led to him becoming hooked on painkillers.
GettyThe presenter has reportedly suffered from anxiety and depression, over his failure to conceive a child with wife Lisa- which is believed to have furthered his substance abuse.
