AMCBryan Cranston has confirmed a Breaking Bad movie is happening, but he’s not sure whether Walter White will make an appearance.
It’s been a whole decade since innocent Walter fumbled his way into the drug world, and after five years of increasing his empire and raking in the cash, the series came to a dramatic end back in 2013.
The popularity of the series has remained strong through its availability on streaming services such as Netflix and the spin-off series Better Call Saul, but it seems Breaking Bad creators aren’t going to give up on the success any time soon.
AMCExecutive producer and head writer Vince Gilligan is working on reviving the series in the form of a two-hour film – though whether it’ll hit the big screens or remain as a television-based production is yet to be confirmed.
Rumours of the movie were first revealed by The Hollywood Reporter, who say the feature will be set in the existing Breaking Bad franchise and will possibly focus on the story of a kidnapped man and his quest for freedom.
It remains unclear whether Breaking Bad star Cranston will appear in the movie, but it seems even Walter White himself isn’t sure.
Cranston appeared on The Dan Patrick Show, where he confirmed the news of the movie, saying:
Yes. There appears to be a movie version of Breaking Bad, but I honestly have not even read the script.
I have not gotten the script, I have not read the script, and so there’s questions of whether or not we would even see Walter White in this movie.
AMCDespite his lack of knowledge about the movie, Cranston seemed very excited about the whole thing – launching into a long evil laugh after revealing the news.

He went on to say he’d definitely be interested in reprising his role as Walter for the film though:
If Vince Gilligan asked me to do it, sure, absolutely yeah.
He’s a genius, and it’s a great story and there’s a lot of people who felt they wanted to see some kind of completion to some of these storylines that were left open.
This idea, from what I’m told, gets into a couple of the characters who were not completed as far as their journey.
Given it’s been ten years since Walter was diagnosed with his life-threatening disease, the movie might have to adjust its time frame or do some explaining as to how he’s fought off his cancer if the meth manufacturer does make an appearance.
Though Cranston may not be making a comeback, SlashFilm have reported co-star Aaron Paul will be returning to the feature as Jesse Pinkman, potentially making him the man who’s on his quest for freedom away from the world of crime he was wrapped up in.
Albuquerque Journal report the New Mexico Film Office have confirmed production for the film will begin this month in New Mexico.
