So, last night, as I’m sure you are all definitely aware, the highly-anticipated new rendition of Top Gear graced our screens with £50million of BBC money behind them and a new set of presenters – but how did it go?
Not very well.
Some have claimed that Matt LeBlanc’s presenting was perfect, some have argued Chris Evans’ was trying too hard to be Jeremy Clarkson.
Some have even claimed it was no more than a car crash, excuse the pun.
But what did the great people of Twitter think about the petrol-headed fiasco? Well, wonder no more:
The new #topgear resembles a 4th generation Subaru Impreza Turbo. A faint facsimile of something that was fun and relevant a decade ago.

New #TopGear is awful. Chris Evans not a big enough personality?

The audience weren't exactly loving the new #TopGear#98fmBigBreakfast pic.twitter.com/TvBdDcaXtR

I was so pissed yesterday, I fell asleep 10mins into #TopGear. According to Twitter, this was a good move

Some just got really personal:
#TopGear I've found a list of things that's wrong with the new Flop Gear pic.twitter.com/EyZ8Wr49Iy

Watched Top Gear last night. Matt LeBlanc genuinely did good, Chris Evans not so much.

But there were some who enjoyed it:
Controversially I thought the new #TopGear was really good!

Old #TopGear was good….once. By the end it was over scripted, over acted , self indulgent rubbish. I really enjoyed last nights episode!

Thought the new #TopGear was good, enjoyed it & Matt LeBlanc is the man. Seems a lot of people had already made their mind up… ?

I'm not actually watching Top Gear, but now might be a good time to remind people that it took YEARS until it gelled for Clarkson et al
— Dara Ó Briain (@daraobriain) May 29, 2016
Matt Le Blanc is really good at the driving with jokes thing. The Nomad film the best thing in the episode #TopGear
— Greg Jenner (@greg_jenner) May 29, 2016
Quite enjoying the new #TopGear. About as good – but with the same amount of naff – as last series.
Evans and LeBlanc are both great.

Despite there being two sides to the argument, I think it’s pretty fair to say that the majority of people who watched the show utterly despised it…
Ah well – maybe things will get better for the Top Gear guys in the future? Who knows…
