It’s fair to say there have been plenty of controversial sex scenes in Game of Thrones.

However, the most awkward bonk-fest by a country mile was the one shared by the handsome, heroic Jon Snow… and his Aunt Daenerys.

The boat based bumping uglies session turned stomachs everywhere as we all finally realised the pair were in fact very, very related.

Who could forget the biggest – and most anticipated – spoiler of the season being juxtaposed with shots of the two Targaryens getting busy. We had seen incest on the show before, but we were actually supposed to be rooting for these guys…

And it seems the incestuous romp was just as uncomfortable to film as it was to watch, on account of the close friendship between the actors.

Speaking with Vanity Fair, Kit Harington revealed how the scene had felt ‘unnatural and strange’:

If you’ve known someone for six years and they’re best friends with your girlfriend, and you’re best friends with them, there is something unnatural and strange about doing a love scene.

The 31-year-old actor added:

We’ll end up kissing and then we’re just pissing ourselves with laughter because it’s so ridiculous.

Let’s recall some of the most memorable moments from Game of Thrones below:

Emilia Clarke gave an insight into the sibling-like relationship between the pair, explaining:

I’ll tell him, ‘Kit, stop being a dick—stop being so grumpy.’ Like I would with my brother.

The mother of dragons also offered a tantalising insight into what Season 8 has in store for her fiery heroine:

It f—ed me up, Knowing that is going to be a lasting flavour in someone’s mouth of what Daenerys is…

Back in March 2018, Kit and Emilia were spotted having a drink together in Belfast pub Kelly’s Cellars in potentially the coolest after work drinks of 2018 so far.

They were joined by co-stars Jacob Anderson (Grey Worm) and Peter Dinklage (Tyrion Lannister) as well as show creators David Benioff and D.B. Weiss.

Unlike his troubled onscreen counterpart, Harington’s love life is – thankfully – much happier.

He is all set to tie the knot with former co-star Rose Leslie, who Clarke describes as being ‘the best human in the world’.

Harington and Leslie fell head over heels in love with each other back in 2012, with the chemistry between the pair evident through the romance between Jon and wildling Ygritte.

Speaking on The Jonathan Ross Show, Harington gave the following cute details about their engagement:

I did have some plans to do it, I was going to string up some lights in some trees and do all the romantic stuff […] We were in the country and we were under this beautiful night sky and had a log fire burning and red wine, and I blew my load early.

Game of Thrones will return at some point in 2019. Despite how traumatising I almost certainly know it will be, I genuinely cannot wait…
