As far as Saturday mornings go – we’ve got some pretty big news following the recent announcement of Brooklyn Nine-Nine being cancelled!

Taking to Twitter in the early hours of this morning (May 12), to make the big reveal, the American actor, comedian, filmmaker and musician, wrote:

So happy to announce:

NBC IS PICKING UP BROOKLYN 99 for SEASON !!!

In the space of just a few hours, at the time of writing, the tweet has received 63,000 likes, while being retweeted 23,000 times.

As you can imagine, the Brooklyn Nine-Nine fans were quick to react, expressing their joy in response to Mr Samberg – a former cast member of Saturday Night Live.

One tweeter simply wrote: Yesssssssssss [sic] while others used it as an opportunity to reply with memes from the show, such as:

This was quickly followed up with another tweet from Andy, where he thanked fans for their support following the initial news Brooklyn Nine-Nine was going to be cancelled.

He tweeted to his half a million plus, followers:

Thank you to everyone for the crazy outpouring of support. It means the world to us. It wouldn’t have happened without you.

Not one to shy away from injecting a little comedy into his tweets, he then posted a meme of Hulk Hogan – is it me or can you tell he’s just a tad excited:

To be honest, you know your weekend’s off to a great start when you wake up to news like this!

First Brooklyn Nine-Nine gets saved, some decent weather is finally on the way for us Brits – not that it’s been too bad of late – whatever next, could 2018 finally be the year where football come’s home again and England win the World Cup?

Ok, now I’m just being daft, but still, with this type of news, it’s hard not to be excited and overly positive!

As if you needed reminding just how great the show is, take a little look below:

Just yesterday, (May 10), television network Fox announced they’d be dropping the cult cop comedy, much to the despair of its hardcore fan base.

The reason for the axe was said to be due to dwindling ratings. While the show received rave reviews, the ratings continuously dropped.

On average, season four was receiving around 2.9 million viewers per episode, whereas season five dropped just below this to 2.7 million.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Hulu, Netflix and TBS were also said to be among those outlets who reached out to Universal TV after the cancellation.

A day later, a potential revival looked bleak after Hulu — which retains SVOD rights to Brooklyn — and Netflix, both passed on a potential sixth season. Hours later, NBC swooped in to renew the series for an ‘abbreviated 13-episode season’.

NBC Entertainment Chairman, Robert Greenblatt said:

Ever since we sold this show to Fox I’ve regretted letting it get away, and it’s high time it came back to its rightful home.

To be honest with you, I’m not really bothered about why it happened, or how it happened, I’m just grateful we’re getting it back for a whole new season!

YES!
