A dog walker out on the shores of Loch Ness has just stumbled across this. Has Nessy been found? Or someone playing a fascinating prank?

The legendary shores will be the set of a new six-part drama, Loch Ness, where the search for a serial killer will become a matter of life and death for a local detective, dealing with their first murder case.

Executive Producer Tim Haines said:

Serial killers are monsters that lie beneath the surface of normal happy communities. Where better to hunt for one than in a place that has thrived off its own monster myth for centuries – Loch Ness.

The cast includes stars from Downton Abbey, Eastenders and Coronation Street.

This isn’t the first time this year that a monster was discovered in Loch Ness, which ultimately turned out to be related to filming.

A survey by an underwater robot found a 30ft monster shaped discovery on the bottom of the loch, which turned out to be a prop which sank into the loch after being used during the filming of the 1970 Billy Wilder film The Private Life of Sherlock Holmes.
