Jon Jones Sets Sights On UFC 200 Following Octagon Return

Jon Jones returned to UFC action with a victory last night, and he is ready and willing to save the headline fight at UFC 200.

Jones was expected to make light work of Ovince Saint Preux -who stepped in for the injured Daniel Cormier- but instead ground out a decision victory.

Jones showed glimpses of his former self, but it was a display to shake off the cobwebs from a year away from the Octoagon.

Having claimed the interim light heavyweight title ‘Bones’ confirmed he would be game to fight at UFC 200 in July…

Jon Jones also sent a one finger salute in the direction of Cormier last night, and the light heavyweight champ then responded by registering his interest in headlining the UFC’s bicentennial show.

As reported by MMA Fighting, DC said:

I’m going to see the doctor Monday, and if they say Daniel Cormier is OK to compete in 11 weeks at UFC 200, I’ll be there…Don’t bring that interim belt. You leave that at home. That’s garbage. That’s a play belt.

They got that thing from the kiosk upstairs before they gave that to you in the middle of the Octagon. Leave that thing at home, Jon. Come chase this real title, and get beat, and I’ll ship you back to Albuquerque.

Demetrious Johnson put on a far more devastating display, claiming victory over Henry Cejudo by first-round TKO.

That flying roundhouse left Andre Fili the victim of one of the most impressive knockouts in the the promotion’s history.

So, subject to medical clearance, has UFC 200 found a headline fight to replace the scheduled rematch between Conor McGregor and Nate Diaz?
