The trailer for Tom Hardy’s latest TV project – FX series Taboo – has just been released – and it looks like it could be a winner.

The series – set in London in 1814 – sees Hardy’s character, James Keziah Delaney ride the line between London gentleman and savage when he returns to London after ten years missing in Africa, reports Business Insider.

Believed to be dead by those who knew him, Delaney is forced to defend his father’s legacy against his enemies and as a result finds himself in a face-off against the world’s most powerful trading firm at the time, the East India Company.

Hardy, who is both star and executive-producer of the series (alongside no less than Ridley Scott) is currently in the running for the ‘Best Supporting Actor’ at the Oscars for his role with Leonardo Dicaprio in The Revenant.

The series boasts a number of performances from other high profile actors including Michael Kelly (House of Cards), Jonathan Pryce (Pirates of the Caribbean), and Oona Chaplin (The Hour).

Perhaps most excitingly, Taboo will mark another venture into a British period setting for Steven Knight, the man behind popular BBC series Peaky Blinders and the show looks set to debut some time in 2017.
