A mum who was sick of her son mooching off her decided to teach him a lesson, by leaving him a pretty substantial invoice for a year’s worth of support payments.
The 23-year-old lad, from Ontario, was charged a whopping $39, 254.17 CAD (£20,942) by his fed up mum, with whom he’d been living for the last thirteen months.
The comprehensive bill included his share of all the ‘household bills’, cleaning and vacuuming services, ‘incidental food/sundries’ taken from the kitchen and best of all a $1,000 CAD (£500) surcharge for ‘being an asshole’.
Notably, ‘contributions from spouse’ i.e. his father, were listed as a big fat zero.
The story comes from Redditor Chalipo, a full time student, who shared a copy of the invoice online yesterday, where some Redditors were quick to criticise his mum for making parenting into a financial transaction.
However she soon went online to claim that obviously the invoice wasn’t real she was just frustrated and wanted to prove a point.
She explained:
This was done in 5 minutes of anger… He is lucky and doesn’t realise it.
Chalipo seems to have learnt his lesson and confessed that the invoice was a very effective parenting technique which helped him to realise what an ‘entitled little shit’ he’d been.
He later wrote.
I hope to one day be successful enough to support my family and repay her, but she doesn’t expect me to.
On behalf of stressed mum’s everywhere, well played mum.
