Shortly after news broke last night of the passing of Swedish DJ Avicii his ex-girlfriend posted to social media about her loss and our still sore hearts are breaking all over again.

The news of the death of Avicii, whose real name was Tim Bergling, has spread around the world after being announced yesterday evening by his representatives.

And few will feel the pain of his loss more than Emily Goldberg who had been in a relationship with the Swedish EDM superstar for two years.

In a post sharing 10 personal photos of the couple Emily wrote:

Come on babe, don’t give up on us. Choose me, and I’ll show you love.” Those are lyrics from a song Tim wrote for me.

I wish I could have lived up to them. For the two years we were together, he was my closest confidante, and my best friend. Now I can’t look at Bear without knowing I’ll never see his face again.

I’m still collecting my thoughts and thank you for all your kind words and texts. Wake me up when it’s all over, because I don’t want it to be real #ripavicii #avicii @avicii

The final sentence is a line from the song Wake Me Up which reached Number 1 in 22 countries around the world.

In the following post Emily shared what appears to be a text exchange between the pair.

Not much is known about the pair’s relationship due to Avicii’s wish to keep his personal life private.

However, following the artist’s untimely death details are beginning to emerge.

Guest of a Guest wrote about the pair meeting in 2012, however rumours of the pair dating didn’t surface in the wider media until later due to the musician’s private nature.

A heartbreaking final picture of the DJ emerged yesterday following the sad news.

According to TMZ, the 28-year-old star interacted with dozens of his fans at a luxury resort in Muscat, Oman, during his final days.

The photos were taken within the last six days at the same location where Avicii was reportedly holidaying.

Although details surrounding the DJ’s sudden death remain unclear and unconfirmed, a statement released by his representatives reads:

It is with profound sorrow that we announce the loss of Tim Bergling, also known as Avicii.

He was found dead in Muscat, Oman this Friday afternoon local time, April 20th.

The family is devastated and we ask everyone to please respect their need for privacy in this difficult time. No further statements will be given.

In 2014, Avicii cancelled a number of gigs while he recovered from the removal of his gallbladder and appendix.

He retired from music in 2016, but returned in 2017 with his smash hit collaboration with Rita Ora, Lonely Together.
Police officers say there is no suspicion of any criminality linked with Avicii’s death. His brother David Bergling has reportedly now flown over to Oman in search of answers.

Our thoughts are with Tim’s family and friends.
