The US Air Force must be shitting bricks at the news that Danny Trejo, a man so hard he was born with a handlebar moustache, is joining the Area 51 raid.

Trejo made the announcement that he was going to lend his support to the campaign to storm the infamous experimental military facility earlier today on Twitter.

The Machete star shared a screenshot of himself from Machete Kills in Space, where he’s brandishing a light machete, along with the caption ‘after leaving Area 51’.

If you’ve not been keeping your finger on the viral news pulse, you’d be forgiven for not knowing what the Internet’s recent obsession with Area 51 is but basically it’s born out of a Facebook event, named ‘Storm Area 51, They Can’t Stop All of Us’.

The idea behind the event is exactly what it says on the tin, a group of people (2 million at current count) are planning on storming Area 51 in the hopes of gaining access to the facility after which they’ll free the aliens inside.

How will the crowd avoid the no doubt heavily armed guards protecting the facility? They’re going to ‘Naruto run’ there (a method of running where you lean forward and put your arms behind you) and hope that the speed boost will give them the ability to dodge bullets.

Good luck guys.

In all seriousness, the group is clearly a joke and a pretty funny one at that, so it’s clear why Trejo has decided to join in on the fun. Unfortunately, the staff at Area 51 haven’t seen the funny side of the event and warned people they will protect the base from intruders.

US Air Force spokesperson Laura McAndrews has reportedly offered a word of warning for potential trespassers.

She said:

[Area 51] is an open training range for the US Air Force, and we would discourage anyone from trying to come into the area where we train American armed forces.

The US Air Force always stands ready to protect America and its assets.

McAndrews did not elaborate on how officials would react to potential intruders but I imagine Naruto running won’t protect them from whatever the armed forces have up their sleeves.

Over 2 million people have so far registered an interest in attending the event, which is scheduled to take place on Friday, September 20, 2019 at 3am.

Don’t worry if you can’t make it though, it was recently announced that there are plans to live stream the whole thing, so you can watch the raid in real-time and spot little green men from the comfort of your front room.

Or you could go yourself and meet Danny Trejo!
