The lawyer of Edward Snowden has been forced to release a statement after widespread rumours that the US whistleblower had been kidnapped or killed.
The former National Security Agency contractor tweeted out a string of letters and numbers last week and it sent Internet detectives into meltdown.
Some thought he’d been killed by the US government for possessing more secret information, while others thought he may have been kidnapped by aliens. Obviously. This is the Internet after all.

Snowden’s lawyer, Anatoly Kucherena, has now confirmed that his client is safe and well. Although it wasn’t confirmed whether or not he’s been abducted by aliens.
Kucherena said:
I can authoritatively say that he is alive and well, he is living in Russia and is busy with his favourite work.
Again, we are seeing certain speculations about Edward Snowden.
Of course, there probably are people interested in speculating on this matter who have been doing this for the last several years.

Snowden is wanted in the US for charges of espionage and theft of government property, but it looks like he’s still safe and sound in Russia.
Although we’re still no closer to knowing what that fucking tweet was all about. But I’m sure we’ll find out soon enough.
My money’s still on aliens though.
