Do you pass an alley on your way into work? Live by a canal? Visit Parliament much? If so, you’ve probably seen a few rats in your time – but none bigger than this one.
According to Sky News, one British gas engineer has just discovered a rat that he says is “bigger than his dog” at a block of flats he was working at.
Tony Smith, 46, spotted the Master Spliter-esque beast in a bush near a kid’s playground in Hackney Downs, north London.
He says it weighed around 25lbs and around 4ft long (if measuring its tail). This would put it on a par with the largest species of rat in the world – and is probably one of the biggest ever found on UK soil.
Tony said: “This is the largest rat I’ve ever seen in my entire life. I’ve got a cat and a Jack Russell and it was bigger than both of those.”
The man in the photograph above is Tony’s electrician friend James, who was brave enough to hold the supersize rodent.
