The weather as of lately has been truly bizarre. One minute you’re flaunting shorts and a Hawaiian shirt, the next minute it’s a fluffed up North Face as the Beast from the East batters you with hail and 25ft of snow.
While most of America was getting ready to go to work at 7.30am this morning, New Yorkers woke to the sound of battering rain and I’m gonna say it, it makes the Beast from the East look like, well, whatever you call a young beastling.
In all my years in the north of England I can’t say I’ve seen anything like this.
Fucking flash flood warning ⚠️ scared the living hell out of me

To make matters even more terrifying, many awoke to a warning text on their iPhones letting them know about a flash flood, reports Buzzfeed.
That flash flood warning text was really not needed. I literally woke up in a panic.

Drivers were swimming in their vehicles to work and the subways looked like deleted scenes from Titanic.
Rain inside New York City. In most ‘rich’ countries this would lead to parliamentary inquiries and / or politico’s losing their job. In America, excuse me, …. New York City, it’s just ‘mèh’. pic.twitter.com/n7CnTGlWpg

In one tweet rain can be seen streaming down the walls of the subway. Rain in the walls. The apocalypse is near. In another it was rushing down the stairs. I’ll never let go, Jack!
At least when commuters got onto their subway cars they could dry off. Oh wait. No. It was raining inside the subway cars too.
Check out some of the more terrifying tweets below:
