An infamous online troll who’s been declared the ‘Rembrandt of Yahoo trolling’ has been named by Time magazine as one of the internet’s most influential people.

Kenneth McCarthy, or Ken M as he’s known online, has become famous for trolling news sites with his hilarious comments that he leaves underneath stories and articles, the Independent reports.

However unlike the usual vicious internet trolls Ken’s more innocent, leaving deliberately stupid comments to confound and confuse other commenters. This has led to him becoming something of an internet celebrity, he even has a Facebook page, where he now has a growing following of over 40,000 people.

McCarthy claims his aim is to transform ‘toxic spaces’ like comment sections, into spaces of ‘belly laughter’ by irritating other commenters with his strange, misinformed and apparently totally uneducated responses.

Here’s a selection of some of his incredibly stupid comments.

Upvoted claim they managed to track down the real Ken M to Brooklyn, New York, where he works as a copywriter for Comedy Central and spoke to him about his comments.

He said:

I wasn’t that internet savvy. I didn’t even know what trolling was… I just started doing it. I thought, ‘I wonder how idiotic I can be, but still be believable.’ It turned into this weird exercise.

Yahoo has the most beautifully gullible people. The people on Huffington Post are humorless and pedantic. I tried it with Fox News, but that group is such a furious wasp nest.

So keep an eye out for Ken M in the comments just be sure not to fall for his troll tricks…
