If you grew up in a strict household, you’ll know good behaviour is all that stands between you and a severe butt-whipping from your parents.
Some of you may look at this as over-the-top parenting but for me, – and those who grew up in a similar environment – you were taught discipline and respect.
However, that being said, they’re pretty old-fashioned tactics, and from a generation whose concerns about political correctness weren’t at the forefront of their minds.
So if you were caught red-handed acting a fool, then you’d be in for more than a telling off, as these two Puerto Rican sisters, unfortunately, found out:
I blame modern-day rap for the ascension of the ‘twerk’. Yeah, it’s cool to see at a club and what not, but I think when historians look back at the current generation of hip-hop fans, they’ll associate it with nonsensical lyrics and questionable dance moves, with twerking right up there with the dab and the nae-nae.
Sisters Julissa and Jesenia were recording a video of themselves twerking, which is when their mum caught them.
Suffice to say she was not happy as she reached for her slipper, quicker than Clint Eastwood reaching for his revolver in The Good, The Bad and The Ugly, proceeding to whip their butts.
The mum was like a tornado coming to crash the party… and the screams… just wow.
This video gave me vivid reminders of how my mum would quick draw for the slipper (the preferred weapon of choice for a Filippino mother) whenever she found out I was up to no good.
My mum doesn’t play about, she once fought off someone at the door with a slipper!
While it’s obvious Julissa and Jesenia’s mother isn’t a big fan of twerking, I hardly doubt it’s going to stop the sisters from doing it again? But who knows?
Despite being pregnant, Bronx rapper Cardi B has no plans to stop twerking.
After finding out her latest single, I Like It, went to number one on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, she posted an Instagram video of herself dancing in celebration.
The Bodak Yellow rapper can be heard chanting:
Number one, I’m number one, I’m number one, I’m number one and I’m about to give birth, birth, birth.
While most of her fans left comments of congratulations, one person claimed:
Your child gonna be twerking and dancing as soon as they come out of your belly. [sic]
The 25-year-old emcee proves pregnant women can still shake their ‘thing’ and women rappers are a force to be reckoned with in a male-dominated genre.
It’s the second time she’s held the number one spot on the chart and it’s the first time a female rapper has topped it twice.
