Paddy McGuinness has taken to social media to reveal he’s had a vasectomy, informing fans he’s recovering well from the operation which he described as a ‘doddle.’

But, in true Paddy-style, the dad-of-three has not kept the intimate aspects of the procedure to himself, as he goes into graphic detail showing fans the towel full of ice delicately placed on his crotch.

In the candid video, the new Top Gear host says:

Patient McGuinness is home. Gentlemen, if you’re thinking about having a vasectomy and are a little bit reluctant, as I was, the initial anaesthetic, what they give you into the ol’ pippins, I’m not gonna lie, that’s tender. It made my eyes water a little bit.

But after that, honestly, it’s a doddle. I’m currently resting up at home with a towel full of ice on the old nicky nacky noos. But I’ll keep you up to speed.

He captioned the video:

Home now after having the auld snippy snappy snoo. Currently resting up with a bag of ice on my nadgers. #vasectomy #testicletuesday.

The 45-year-old has been praised for being so honest about the routine procedure, which takes about 15 minutes to perform.

Paddy and his wife Christine McGuiness have never shied away from speaking about their family life, often talking about their three children, who’ve all been diagnosed with autism.

Previously speaking on Loose Women, Christine said the pair ‘wanted six children, but we are done’, adding that her decision was ‘not because we don’t want another autistic child, but we are stretched because the children do have autism, it’s hard to manage your time.’

A vasectomy is an operation in which the tubes that carry a man’s sperm are cut or sealed, to prevent pregnancy. The surgical procedure is usually carried out under local anaesthetic and is considered a permanent fix with a more than 99 per cent effectivity rate.

For eight-to-12 weeks, couples should still use protection because sperm will still be in the tubes of the penis, however couples no longer need to think about contraception after this point.

Despite being a routine operation that so many men go through, going under the knife is still a daunting prospect, so there’s no doubt Paddy’s humorous comments will serve as a form of reassurance for many.

Wishing Mr McGuinessess’ nicky nacky noos a speedy recovery.
