This postman had a bit of an awkward delivery blunder, but the apology note he left behind was priceless.
Sam Cooke was out when his parcel was delivered in a rather unconventional way, but when he returned, he was in for a bit of a surprise…
To his bewilderment, the 22-year-old from Manchester found two red cards chilling on the doorstep, but a distinct lack of package…
However, the mystery was soon be solved as he saw a note from the postie first explaining what he’d done with the delivery.
It read:
Put through window.
But then the postman – obviously realising what had embarrassingly happened – was then forced to explain what he’d done in another note.
He wrote:
I’m really sorry. Think your parcel might have fallen in the toilet accidentally.
Sam must have had a bit of a shock when he retrieved his package – containing expensive printer ink – out of the loo…
Taken aback by this unusual delivery method, Sam posted his bizarre ordeal to Twitter, where news of the hilarious and slightly unfortunate incident spread.
The postman in question must have been pretty mortified when he realised the package had just dropped straight into the toilet bowl… So much so he’s since offered a personal apology.
Royal Mail must also feel pretty awkward about the whole thing and have also issued a statement, sharing their sympathy for the humiliating incident.
Hats off to any burglar who can squeeze through that! 😂 pic.twitter.com/cWngOq4VLg

A spokesperson for Royal Mail said:
Even though Mr Cooke has confirmed there was no damage to the parcel, we’re very sorry for any inconvenience caused.
Our staff are always reminded of the appropriate action to take if a customer is unavailable to accept a delivery.
A card should have been posted through the door informing him that the parcel had been returned to the local delivery office and listing the various options available to retrieve it, or that the parcel had been left with a neighbour.
UPDATE: I have been contacted by a member of the Royal Mail team at my local office, the postie is going to knock on my door and apologise👍🏻

None of this was an April Fool’s joke, it actually happened.
Not sure who I feel sorry for more, the postman who is now well and truly publicly shamed or the guy who had to fish his parcel out of the toilet…
Definitely awkward.
