A few months ago pro-gamer, Douglas ‘Censor’ Martin, lost the Call of Duty League Championship weeks after dumping the ‘world’s sexiest weathergirl’, Yanet Garcia. Today, he’s revealed a bit more about 2018’s most wounding split.
Mexican gamer Martin hit the headlines when he finished with Garcia to concentrate on the online championship, but angrily told his 1.3 million Twitter followers after crashing out of the competition: ‘No I do not want Yanet back!’
Fans thought he was idiotic to end his long-term relationship with the 27-year-old weather reporter, and so did her whopping 7.2 million Instagram fan base, but Martin insists he has no regrets.
At the time, Martin had stated he decided to end their relationship so he could practice more.
However, back in August he wrote on Twitter:
I came back this year and said I was winning [the] championship. I feel so bad. I really thought our team could do it.
Now, explaining his decision in a new video, he’s said:
I didn’t wanna make her look bad at all. I do wanna see her succeed…
I said I wanted to buy her a car as a thank you and she said ‘Great’, and then I said I wanna film it and she said ‘no, you’re not gonna film that. You can’t film that.’
I had to find a way of balancing good content. She said, ‘is this all this is about making money?’ And I see where she’s coming from and it’s just causing all this friction that’s continuing to grow all the time.
He says their problems began when he revealed how much money his video blogs – showing the early stages of their relationship – were making. Apparently she then asked for a percentage of it.
Doug said he ‘didn’t feel comfortable’ with that, even though he appreciated people were flocking to his channel purely because of her presence.
In his earlier reveal video, the story was less insightful, with him gushing:
I supported her decision. She wanted to be a supermodel actress – chase your dreams, life’s too short. I’m playing Call of Duty full-time now and she wanted to take her job opportunity.
I didn’t think it was going to be that difficult. Back then it was a lot easier for me to go out and see her. But now I have obligations.
I’m on a contract. It’s not like I don’t want to do this, this is the career that I want. I want to win a ring, I want to win a world championship, what I want in my life at this very moment is to compete in Call of Duty because I love it so much.
I’m going to do whatever it takes to be a champion. There’s only 24 hours in a day and I just didn’t have enough time to do what I needed to do.
Yanet subsequently responded to his apology saying she was now at peace, reports the New York Post.
When asked if she could envision a time when they could get back together, Garcia said:
No, I do not think so. I trust God, he has something else for me.
A few days following the split she tweeted:
Never listen to the advice of a person has not done anything good with his life.
Scathing stuff if I ever saw it.
This has got to be wounding for Doug – theres’ no beating around the bush here. Maybe he had a point when he said he needed to focus more and this is just a new leaf? In order to win you must first learn how to lose, all that stuff.
