If you haven’t seen it yet, you’re missing out on possibly the greatest video 2018 has seen: a security guard in Florida farting over and over for six months straight.
In equal parts astonishing and gross, Paul Flart’s fame has burnt bright and fast, amassing 20,000 followers on Instagram and earning hundreds of thousands of views on other social media pages.
Paul, real name Doug, captured each and every one of his farts while on shift at a hospital for half a year, unaware of what notoriety lay ahead.
Here was a man who grafted before the adulation and superlatives; before the public were savvy to his penchant for busting some serious butt like there was no tomorrow.

He told VICE:
It transcends all languages. There’s no translation necessary, it’s just funny.
The lobby has really great acoustics, and naturally, we all fart. One day I ripped a rather nice one and got really good sound from it, so the next time it happened I recorded it and sent it to my group chat.
He added:
I’ve had people from Holland and Germany and the UK sending me DMs and saying it’s the greatest thing ever. This brightens their day.
Some people said their week has been so shitty and then they find my videos and then they’re laughing and they’re happy about it and it brings them joy, which to me is great.
Like I’m all about that. I couldn’t ask for better stuff. Um, I had a guy, I’m sure he was joking, but he’s like, ‘I stopped doing heroin for you.’
His journey to stardom began when upped sticks to Florida, from New Jersey, to help his mother following the death of his father. Getting a license for a thriving security scene, he began working at an area hospital. Management apparently liked his personality so much they made him the top dog: the first person visitors would see at the hospital.
By March however, he’d posted his first fart video. What would follow has entered internet lore forever.
Sadly, the fun times ended. When Paul arrived at work the day after he went viral he was asked to turn in his badge and uniform. He even live-streamed the sacking on his Instagram page.
In Paul’s eyes, however, this is only the beginning, explaining:
My thought process is just run with this and see where this goes.
We live in a society where this is the big popular thing right now, but next week, unless I’m doing more than keeping it going, it’s going to be nothing.
We’re going to keep making content. We can do Paul Flart on vacation, you know, throw in like a Hawaiian shirt and a hat of some sort and then just fart around Florida. We’re just going to keep going.
A gentlemen and a scholar. Keep doing you, Doug.
