Donald Trump held his inaugural concert Thursday night and it looks like he drew a slightly smaller crowd than Barack Obama did in 2009.
And by slightly we mean, well, a fuck ton.
This year, the Trump administration managed to gather 10,000 attendants, according to MSNBC. The Obama administration drew an estimated crowd of 400,000 people to his first concert, according to The Washington Post.
Sure, it was expected that less people would attend Trump’s concert than those who attended Obama’s thanks to a lineup filled with lesser-known performers such as 3 Doors Down, Toby Keith, and the Piano Guys, known for covering Hillary Clinton’s anthem ‘Fight Song’ on YouTube.
But inauguration concerts are less about seeing your favourite A-list performers and more about celebrating a new leader of your country – even if Beyoncé, Stevie Wonder, Jon Bon Jovi and Shakira are there.
Here’s what Trump’s inauguration looked like last night:
And Obama’s in 2009:
Unfortunately for the Trump administration and its supporters, people on Twitter seemed to notice the clear difference in attendance:

During the concert, Trump seemed to think the smaller turn out was due to doing it in a ‘new’ location that ‘hasn’t been done before’.
He said:
This started out tonight as a small, little concert. And then we had the idea, maybe we’ll do it in front of the Lincoln Memorial. I don’t know if it’s ever been done before, but if it has, very seldom.
And people came by the thousands and thousands and here we are tonight, all the way back.
He added: “We didn’t know if anyone would come tonight, this hasn’t been done before.”
However, it has been done before. In 2009.

Still, Trump tried to convince his audience that the concert was ‘unprecedented’.
And then there was this:

Sure, it’s probably not the KGB. But it’s bad timing, none the less.
Here’s to hoping the turnout in support for the new President of the United States turns out in larger numbers than it did for his inauguration concert.
