Anna frantically tried to resuscitate the child for 16 minutes before paramedics arrived, but he died in her arms at their family home. The ball had been intended as a party favour for his upcoming fourth birthday party.

Since the tragic death, Anna has been harassed by cruel trolls who have targeted her and her unborn baby.

One particularly nasty troll sent Anna a private message – complete with a laughing face emoji – which read, ‘You should name your next child Choking’ in a disgusting reference to Alby’s death.

Speaking through an Instagram story, Anna told her 151,000 followers about the shocking abuse:

I can’t even begin to fathom the sadness and hurt this person much have experienced in their lifetime, to feel the desire to intensify our family’s heart ache for the sale of their own amusement,

Trolling comments and DM’s are now part of our daily lives, and I can usually dig deep, and find the strength to move on from such hatred, but this one impacted me deeply, and many more tears than usual have fallen today.

The grieving mother – who has decided not to name the troll – added:

I’ve kept you anonymous so as not to give you more of the attention you so obviously crave.

I wish you nothing but love and happiness from here on out, in the hopes that no other grieving family may experience your bitterness.

Speaking at the time of her son’s death, Anna posting a picture of the toddler tucked up in bed with following heartbreaking message:

‘I can’t wait to go to bed tonight Mum!’ Our precious boy, with his brand new doona cover, 2.49pm on Monday afternoon… exactly 40 minutes before he took his final earthside breath in my arms.

No words could ever express the depths of our gratitude for the outpouring of love we have received since our worst nightmare became our daily reality.

During this time of immense grief, your thoughts, prayers, sympathy and tears have enveloped and uplifted us, and we could never thank you enough for your overwhelming generosity and support.

Sweet Alby, forever three, forever free.

On his birthday she wrote the following message:

Our arms are yearning for the thousands of cuddles yet to be given, our ears are longing for your laughter to once again resound through the walls of our home, and our hearts are shattered for the millions of memories we’ll never have the chance to create.

We, along with the world, are weeping, but we take solace in the fact that all you ever knew, in your almost-four-years, was nothing but love. We are eternally grateful for the abundant light you brought to our lives and now know that your purpose was so much higher than any of us ever anticipated.

Our thoughts are with Anna Davis and her family as they continue to support each other at this difficult time.
