A disturbing selfie video appearing to show a man spiking a woman’s drink has gone viral on Twitter.

The woman is seen filming herself dancing around with a friend at a party, holding her phone in one hand and dangling her drink with the other.

As she enjoys herself dancing, the cup tilts away from her leaving it vulnerable to a man who sneaks up and appears to discreetly put something in her drink.

Twitter user Jaeda_sky uploaded the video on April 4 and it quickly went viral receiving, at time of writing (April 9), over 10 million views, 97,000 retweets and 176,000 likes.

Sharing her friend’s video, Jaeda tweeted a warning to others writing:

I’ll never understand how a dude can be so wack with no game and feel the need to be such a disgusting predator. Ladies watch your drinks! Watch her cup.

After the video was posted it was met with comments from many labelling it as fake, rumours Jaeda quickly shut down.

The woman in the video, Kristal Santos, has since spoken out revealing the incident happened at a party in Espcarpas do Lago, Brazil.

Although it is unclear what the man put in her drink, Kristal has assured people she did not drink anything from the cup afterwards as it was already empty.

In a lengthy Instagram post, originally written in Portugese, Kristal confirmed she was okay and responded to the viral video.

She wrote:

I thank everyone from my heart for the messages of concern! I like parties, I like to drink (sometimes even more).

Once again I will explain here to those who are still worried… I did not drink anything from that cup because it was at the end of the party and the glass was already empty.

Nothing happened to me. Yes I’m glad the video is resonating in a positive way, as an alert for everyone to take more care of their glasses, including me.

I bet just like my mother, the mother of everyone, has warned a thousand times to take care of their glasses, I thought she exaggerated!

But it’s no exaggeration, because we always think that with us it will never happen. But the truth is it can happen anytime and anywhere.

Kristal’s post has, at time of writing, received over 1,700 likes as people praised her for further emphasising Jaeda’s warning.

The comments sections on both Jaeda’s tweet and Kristal’s Instagram post also saw people criticise the man questioning his actions.

Marc Busain advised those in the video to take it to the police writing:

Make sure that goes straight to the cops.

A Twitter user known as Thumper hit back at those defending the man tweeting:

All the guys defending the ‘drugger’ in this video… You’re all outing yourselves. So thanks, we now know who to avoid/report when this kind of thing happens to these women.

It is currently unknown who the man was and what has happened to him.
