Picture the scene: you’re minding your own business, chilling in your living room when suddenly you spot something out of the corner of your eye.
Correction: you spot something terrifying out of the corner of your eye. Something so terrifying, in fact, that it looks like it’s come straight out of Stranger Things.
That was the reality for one man in Bali, Indonesia, recently after an alien-like insect made itself at home in his house one evening, crawling across his ceiling without a care in the world.
Take a look at the creature below, if you dare:
Yikes. The bizarre creature baffled residents after it was spotted by homeowner Hari Toae on June 17, with no one understanding where it could possibly have come from.
Toae wondered whether it might have been looking for a safe place to stay because it had been rainy that night, and his home was the first place it stumbled upon.
He said:
It’s not something I’ve ever seen before. I don’t think it comes from this neighbourhood. I will let it stay in my house, but only for the night. I don’t want it to scare my guests away.
I’d let it stay in my house too, because I’d be hauling my stuff out of there and relocating as soon as that thing came anywhere near me. Toae said he has so far been unable to identify the strange critter, but joked it ‘looked like an alien’.
He’s not kidding, it looks like a smaller (but equally scary) version of the Shadow Monster in Stranger Things, and we all know how that ended up…
In other, somewhat related news, the third season of our favourite sci-fi horror is streaming on Netflix as of today (July 4) – with said Shadow Monster making a terrifyingly realistic appearance.
As with the first series, there are eight ‘chapters’ to this season, titled: Do You Copy?, The Mall Rats, The Case of the Missing Lifeguard, The Sauna Test, The Source, The Birthday, The Bite, and The Battle of Starcourt.
It doesn’t look as though the gang’s Fourth of July celebrations go to plan either, with the Netflix synopsis hinting they’re set to face a new threat from ‘enemies old and new’.
The synopsis reads:
It’s 1985 in Hawkins, Indiana, and summer’s heating up. School’s out, there’s a brand new mall in town, and the Hawkins crew are on the cusp of adulthood.
Romance blossoms and complicates the group’s dynamic, and they’ll have to figure out how to grow up without growing apart. Meanwhile, danger looms.
When the town’s threatened by enemies old and new, Eleven and her friends are reminded that evil never ends; it evolves. Now they’ll have to band together to survive, and remember that friendship is always stronger than fear.
Well, what’re you waiting for?
Stranger Things Season 3 is available to stream on Netflix now.
