Avengers: Endgame Is The Third Best Film Ever According To IMDb

It’s only been out for a week, but already Avengers: Endgame is making history.

It smashed records and sailed into the top spot for best opening weekend at the box office ever with ease, while it only took five days for the three-hour film to make $1 billion.

Like Thanos, the success of Avengers: Endgame was inevitable. With 22 films leading up to it, it was almost too big to fail. Nonetheless, it lived up to the hype (though with a couple things unanswered here and there), and seems to have gone down well with fans.

And as fans shared the love for the film, Marvel themselves shared the love right back, telling fans ‘We love you 3000‘.

Thanks to its immediate, immense popularity and unabashed praise from most critics, Avengers: Endgame has also been rapidly ascending many ‘best of’ lists.

Most notably, it’s now sitting pretty at number three on IMDb‘s list of the top 250 films, sorted by user rating.

Endgame has so far received a user rating of 9.0, only a few points behind The Godfather, with 9.2, and The Shawshank Redemption, which takes the top spot with 9.3.

It’s not the only film to have a user rating of 9.0 though, as Endgame currently shares third position with The Dark Knight and The Godfather: Part II.

Meanwhile, the film has also scored an impressive 95 per cent on Rotten Tomatoes, with the critic consensus call it:

Exciting, entertaining, and emotionally impactful, Avengers: Endgame does whatever it takes to deliver a satisfying finale to Marvel’s epic Infinity Saga.

It’s clear the Marvel Cinematic Universe means a lot to many, many people. Marvel themselves acknowledged this after the film’s release.

The studio tweeted:

Thank you to all the fans around the world for being part of our universe. We love you 3000. #AvengersEndgame

After 22 films and 11 years – with many more to go, of course – it’s no surprise to see the culminating film in the Infinity Saga in a list of top films.

We’ll have to wait until next year, however, to see how it does when it comes to awards season.
