It’s shaping up to be a bit of a sad couple of weeks for television, isn’t it? I mean, what are we going to do without two of our most beloved shows?

This week we said our final goodbyes to The Big Bang Theory, after 12 wonderful years – and tonight we’ll do the same to Game of Thrones.

But the question begs; who wears the crown for the most viewed show?

HBO

Over the past couple of weeks, the two series have gone head-to-head in a battle for the most ratings – and, for the second time in a row, TBBT has come out on top.

It seems the world just couldn’t resist coming together for one final ‘Bazinga!’ with an average of 18 million of us tuning in to watch the 279th and final episode of the hit CBS comedy.

This gave the show a 3.1 rating in the they 18-49 demographic group. The two-part finale The Change Constant/The Stockholm Syndrome also helped the show reached its highest number of views in over three years on CBS, per TVLine.

HBO’s Game of Thrones, which ends tonight, has so far reached a total of 17.2 million viewers, coming in just slightly behind the CBS comedy.

However, with the highly-anticipated finale of Game of Thrones hitting our screens this evening, the show’s ratings are expected to rise significantly.

I mean, there are just so many questions. And the world need answers.

Especially since Sophie Turner has warned us all to have our tissues at the ready – tonight’s final episode is going to upset us all, apparently.

Speaking to The Sunday Times, the actor, who plays Lady of Winterfell, said:

I’ve had a bit of an identity crisis to be honest. I’ve grown up for so many years as this character.

It’s a great ending, from my perspective, it’s very satisfying. But I think a lot of people will be upset too.

And despite a few unhappy fans – and a petition to rewrite the whole of the series – tonight the world will be hanging on the edge of their seats as we prepare to say our final goodbyes to Westeros.
