Luke Perry’s Final Riverdale Episode To Air This Week

Following his death last month, the final Riverdale episode which stars actor Luke Perry will air this week.

He starred as Archie’s dad, Fred Andrews, since the very first episode of the hit show, which began airing on CW in 2017.

Perry had been shooting episodes of Riverdale shortly before his death at the age of 52 following a stroke.

Riverdale‘s showrunner Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa announced that Perry’s last episode will air this week on Twitter.

Earlier today he wrote:

This week’s Riverdale is the last episode Luke filmed. As always, Fred’s imparting words of wisdom to Archie. A beautiful, true moment between a father and his son. Wish these scenes could go on forever…

In an interview with Entertainment Tonight, Aguirre-Sacasa confirmed the episode will address the actor’s death.

Adding that the cast and crew of Riverdale are ‘still processing and grieving’, the show’s creator said:

We know that we have to address it in some way, but we’re giving ourselves a little bit of time and space before we figure out the best way to honour him.

His spirit, which was so generous and wise and vivacious, we hope will infuse every episode, so in my mind, every episode for the rest of time on Riverdale will have a bit of Luke in it.

Perry rose to fame starring as Dylan McKay in the hit teenage drama Beverly Hills, 90210, which aired from 1990 to 2000.

He will appear posthumously in the upcoming Quentin Tarantino film, Once Upon A Time In… Hollywood, later this year.

A representative confirmed Perry passed away on the morning of March 4 at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Burbank.

As reported by Entertainment Tonight, the statement read:

Actor Luke Perry, 52, passed away today after suffering a massive stroke.

He was surrounded by his children Jack and Sophie, fiancé Wendy Madison Bauer, ex-wife Minnie Sharp, mother Ann Bennett, step-father Steve Bennett, brother Tom Perry, sister Amy Coder, and other close family and friends.

The family appreciates the outpouring of support and prayers that have been extended to Luke from around the world, and respectfully request privacy in this time of great mourning. No further details will be released at this time.

Perry was taken to hospital on February 28 after suffering a stroke at his home.

Perry’s finale episode of Riverdale will air Wednesday, April 24 at 8pm Eastern Time (ET) on CW.

Once Upon A Time In… Hollywood will be released in UK cinemas August 9.
