Warning: Contains Spoilers
In case you missed it, the finale of one of the most highly-anticipated series ever happened last night/this morning, May 20.
The TV series of Game of Thrones has, for now, reached its heady conclusion. And while fans across the globe make up their minds as to whether it was a fitting finale or a bitter disappointment, one thing is for certain – the internet will respond.
So, what is the internet’s favourite form of response? Well, apart from petitions to rewrite the whole thing (good luck with that) – the internet is the only place to get your premium memes. One day all conversation will be replaced with memes and gifs, and I’m here for that, and that’s how the internet has responded.
Maisie Williams, who plays Arya Stark in Game of Thrones is also here for that. Maisie’s character had quite a season overall and an interesting sendoff in the last episode. Setting sail to discover unknown lands, and possibly to prove flat Earthers wrong.
Some actors decided to use the internet to post emotional tributes to the end of the series and their characters. Maisie, however, had other ideas, and knew the meme life is where it’s at. So she simply simply tweeted: ‘just here for the memes’.
Within an hour, the 22-year-old had over 13,000 retweets, over 17,000 likes and – of course – thousands of memes tweeted in response.
And here are some choices cuts (which may contain spoilers!) for you to chew on:
And just one more for fun:
Shout out to Maisie for providing us with one handy place to find all the best Game of Thrones memes!
