It’s a great time to be a Stranger Things fan, not only has the fantastic third season just dropped on Netflix but The Simpsons are set to take the piss out of it.

Earlier today Fox (or is it Disney? It’s confusing, to be honest) released the new poster for this year’s Treehouse Of Horror which promises to transplant America’s most dysfunctional family into the world of the Upside Down, as per TV Web.

From the look of the poster, Lisa will be playing Millie Bobby Brown’s character Eleven, Chief Wiggum will be Hopper while Luann Van Houten (had to Google that) is Joyce Byers.

Meanwhile the boys, Mike, Will, Dustin and Lucas, will be played by Milhouse, Martin, Bart and Nelson.

It’s unsurprising The Simpsons have decided to rip into Stranger Things which has become a pop-culture juggernaut since it debuted on Netflix back in 2016.

The third season of Stranger Things has, also unsurprisingly, been a huge hit for Netflix who announced that at least 40.7 million accounts watched the series since its premiere on July 4th.

Netflix tweeted:

Stranger Things 3 is breaking Netflix records!

40.7 million household accounts have been watching the show since its July 4 global launch — more than any other film or series in its first four days. And 18.2 million have already finished the entire season.

The latest season has also been extremely well received garnering an impressive 89% ‘Fresh Rating’ on Rotten Tomatoes, with critics praising the series for balancing entertaining nostalgia with terrifying scares.

Stranger Things has also been praised for introducing its first LGBTQ+ character this season. Robin, played by the Maya Hawk, first appears alongside Steve Harrington in what initially appears to be a cookie-cutter sidekick cum girlfriend role.

Halfway through though, the showrunners pulled the carpet from under their blossoming relationship when Steve, who’s high on truth serum (it makes sense in context) admits his feelings for Robin, only for her to reveal to him she’s a lesbian.

Robin has been warmly received by fans who’ve described her as the coolest character ever while another praised her as a ‘lesbian queen’.
