This probably won’t come as a massive surprise to anyone, but it turns out that Cyberpunk 2077 will have a mighty 80GB install size on PlayStation 4, so if I were you I’d start at least thinking about clearing some space.
This news come via the PlayStation store, which lists the chonky install size beneath all the other general info on CD Projekt RED’s anticipated sci-fi RPG. While 80GB is large enough (thank you very much), others have pointed out that things are still being added to Cyberpunk 2077, so it’s likely that the install size could get even bigger. Oh lawd, it’s coming.
GamesRadar notes that at 80GB, Cyberpunk 2077 is already bigger than The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, with both the Blood and Wine and Hearts of Stone expansions, which came to a modest 51GB. It’s still not quite as formidable as Red Dead Redemption 2 or Black Ops 3 though, which clocked in at 105GB and 101GB respectively.
No, I have no idea why Black Ops 3 was that big either.
By all accounts, it sounds like Cyberpunk 2077 is going to be something we’re playing for a long old time. In fact, I can probably see my time with it bleeding into the release of the next generation of consoles, given Cyberpunk arrives April 2020, and the PS5 and Xbox Scarlett are reported to land before the end of 2020.
CD Projekt RED used E3 2019 as an opportunity to confirm all manner of exciting details surrounding its new game. You’ve heard by now that Keanu Reeves is starring in it, I’m sure – probably because I keep yelling it at strangers on the train – but we’ve also heard that the game will have more romance options and relationship quests than The Witcher 3, and offer a much more expansive endgame than Geralt’s last adventure.
Senior Level Designer Miles Tost told us during E3:
At the end of the game you’ll be able to continue playing your character. We’re not entirely sure yet, but it may work the same way as it did in The Witcher 3. Because ultimately, we give you this whole open world to explore and all these tools to basically role your character, and this time around I think the content we put in the open world is even more substantial than the stuff we have in Witcher 3, so there’s even more value for players to just explore and walk around and experience the stories we have put outside the main story.
Basically guys, Cyberpunk 2077 is one big boy, and he’s coming for you.
