It’s been a mixed week for EA, DICE and Star Wars Battlefront.
Having only come out in the UK on Thursday, Battlefront has become the fastest selling Star Wars game ever, and topped the UK gaming charts. It’s also drawn a lot of criticism for its shallow gameplay and excessive DLC.
Adding insult to injury, the lead singer of rock band Breaking Benjamin – Benjamin Burnley – shared an image of a broken Battlefront game and a rant on social media.
According to Benjamin:
They wanted to pay me to post that I like this piece of shit game.. They can shove it up their ass this game sucks I’d rather watch the god awful prequels then play this piece of shit one more second that’s for ruining Star Wars EA :)
Strong words.
It’s not clear whether or not EA did offer Burnley money or gifts in exchange for positive posts as there’s not any evidence. Hollywood star Anna Kendrick has been covering the game extensively on her social media channels, and also featured in the official release trailer for the game.
We’ve reached out to EA for comment on this, and will update if we hear anything back.
