Following on from the pre-E3 leaks last week, Ubisoft has shared the official trailer for its new sports game – a Rocket Leagueesque roller derby title called Roller Champions.
In Roller Champions, two groups of three players will race around the track as they attempt to keep possession of the ball. The more laps you complete while holding the ball before tossing it through the ring, the more points you get.
Check out the trailer below.
Like Rocket League, it looks like there’ll be a heavy focus on skill as players need to dodge, pass, tackle, and generally pull of some slick tricks to keep possession of, or win, the ball.
While the game is free-to-play, it looks like monetization will come from cosmetic items. While the full game doesn’t launch until 2020, a free demo is available right now until June 14 on PC. It’s not clear which other platforms Roller Champions will be gracing either, as PC was the only confirmed during the show.
All told, I’m pretty into what we were shown, and I’m excited to check out the demo. If this takes off as well as Rocket League did then Ubisoft could have a tasty little money maker in its hands.
Elsewhere in the Ubisoft conference we got a look at a new Zelda-style game called Gods & Monsters, a new zombie mode for Rainbow Six Siege, and a new Just Dance for Nintendo Wii, because… obviously.
